Kim, this is an absolutely gorgeous testimony. Thank you for sharing it. And thank you for teaching tolerance to your children. I have hope that future generations will be more peaceful, as long as there are mothers like you.

Yes, you can breath air. Yes, you can watch it chngae its form. Yes air is tangible and yes, belief in Jesus is as well. My analogy is not invalid. It is extremely valid. If you have Christ in you, you have His Holy Spirit. You can absolutely feel it. I can testify to this because I've been overcome by it. I fell when a prophet touched me and I began speaking in tongues. I've been so deep into worship that I get goosebumps. You can watch Him at work when He paints a new sunrise

Soup seems to be even more yummy the 2nd (or third) day after being concocted.

Being present, no matter what is in your life, is always the most important. As a mentor used to say to me, "A bag of chips, if seen as Holy, will fill the belly greater than any meal from scratch."

<3

We do what we can...which is always the best! :)

Mmm, split pea soup. It's been ages since I had any.

I am also (sneakily) working to simplify our home diet. The urge to garden has been strong for me this year, probably because gardening is a form of spiritual practice (if you'll pardon the pun, it leaves me feeling grounded). I'm not sure that I will do more than a couple of containers, myself.

As for food politics... I know I feel best when I have a strong connection to my food - making things from scratch feels better than pouring from a can or mixing up something from a box. It feels good to have the vegetables in my hands, to listen to the oil sizzle in the pan, and to knead the baked bread. There is not always the time for it, but sometimes I find the easiest times to be present are during cooking.
